Mid-Atlantic RHEC 2015 Health Equity Hero Award

The Mid-Atlantic RHEC is pleased to announce its 2015 Health Equity Hero Award: Ms. Patricia Oceanic! The Mid-Atlantic RHEC’s Health Equity Hero Award recognizes individuals who go above and beyond the call of duty, to reduce health disparities and improve health equity in their community, state, or region. Ms. Oceanic leads the Office of Health Equity and Inclusion at the Nemours Foundation (Alfred I. DuPont Hospital for Children) in Wilmington, Delaware. She is responsible for organization/system level changes, such as driving culture change, 360 degree leadership assessments, executive and physician coaching, and health equity and inclusion initiatives. Under her leadership the organization has developed partnerships between Nemours staff, families and communities; implemented a comprehensive cultural competency training program for staff; made a public commitment to consistently deliver equal health care and to consistently get equal outcomes for their patients; developed a comprehensive health disparities research program - Nemours Health Disparities Science Research (NHDSR) - which has published numerous publications.
